Devonshire Gardens is designed to be inclusive and complement the wider community. The development will prioritise local employment and training opportunities, support independent local businesses, community groups and local residents. This positive social impact will be measured through our Social Value framework and is a key focus for Socius and Railpen. We want to build on the unique spirit of this area, forming a new neighbourhood that captures the vibrancy of Mill Road with a people-focused design.
Prioritising wellbeing and quality of life is a key aspiration for the site. Our scheme includes the delivery of a new public park to offer an alternative space where the local community can enjoy events and other activities.
The potential to deliver genuine long-term social value, through employment and training opportunities and improvements to the environment as well as boosting health and wellbeing. In partnership with the local community, a Social Value Action plan will be drafted, targeting improved local outcomes which will be tangible, publicly-measured and quantified.
The introduction of space for community meetings and events, a community kitchen, a ‘library of things’, edible planting, and a dedicated art gallery and studio.
Socius and its team are committed to working with site neighbours and those living and working in the wider area as we continue to progress our plans for Devonshire Gardens.
