Devonshire Gardens is a five-minute walk from the main railway station, close to Mill Road bridge and bordered by the rail line, Mill Road, Devonshire Road and Angus Close. Travis Perkins will be relocating to a new state-of-the-art facility in Cambridge.
The 3-acre site is currently a fenced-off Travis Perkins builders’ yard, comprising 34,430 sq ft of warehouse buildings and concrete hardstanding for the storage of building materials. It has been effectively closed to the public for more than 150 years and opening up the site will create a significant new area of public space close to Mill Road and improve connectivity throughout the area.
There are currently approximately 120 heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) using this neighbourhood to access the Travis Perkins site every week for deliveries. These vehicle movements will be removed as part of our plans, together with associated visitor car journeys.
Our proposals will see the greening of this brownfield site with a new public park, accessible to all, and a highly sustainable mixed-use development comprising homes, workspace and community amenities.
